Stories, tips, and insights to explore the city like a local

Living and guiding in Strasbourg means being surrounded by some of the best wines in France. In this article, I share my insider recommendations, the places I genuinely love and bring my guests to. Whether you're on a budget or treating yourself, there’s a perfect glass waiting for you!
Where to Taste Alsace Wine in Strasbourg
Strasbourg is full of great places where you can taste Alsace wines with passionate winemakers and cavistes who love explaining what’s in your glass. It’s the perfect way to discover how the region’s wines are made, understand the different grape varieties, and explore the rich local wine culture. If you want to learn while enjoying excellent wines, these are the best spots to start.
Comptoir des Vignerons Alsaciens
Address: 10 Place Gutenberg, 67000 Strasbourg
Located right in the historic city center, just a few steps from Place Gutenberg, the Comptoir des Vignerons Alsaciens is one of the easiest and best places to discover Alsace wines without leaving Strasbourg. The shop brings together around 70–75 independent winemakers and offers several hundred bottles, from everyday wines to grand crus. Every day at 11am and 3pm, a different winemaker comes to present their wines, so you can taste something new each time you visit. It’s a perfect first stop for travelers who want to understand the diversity of Alsace wine in a single, accessible location.

Oenosphere
Address: 33 Rue de Zurich, 67000 Strasbourg
At Oenosphere, you’ll find a mix between a wine bar, a wine shop, and an oenology school. The focus is on artisan winemakers, often working organically or biodynamically, which gives their selection a very distinctive, modern Alsace vibe. You can enjoy tastings on site, order wines by the glass with cheese or charcuterie boards, or even join themed classes and workshops if you want a deeper dive into the region’s wine culture. It feels both relaxed and educational, ideal for curious wine lovers or anyone wanting to learn while tasting!

L’Alsace à Boire
Address: 14 Rue du 22 Novembre, 67000 Strasbourg
Located on Rue du 22 Novembre, this small and accessible wine spot offers a straightforward way to enjoy local wines in the city center. It’s a good option if you’re looking for an easygoing atmosphere where you can taste Alsace wines without needing to go far. The selection is local and the experience is simple, friendly, and convenient, perfect for a casual stop during a day out in Strasbourg.

Where to Drink Great Wine in Strasbourg
If you want to drink good wine in Strasbourg, beyond formal tastings, there are a few wine bars and restaurants in town where you can enjoy a glass , or a full evening in relaxed, cosy or even original settings. Here are some of my favourite spots:
Black & Wine
Address: 9 Rue Hannong, 67000 Strasbourg
Black & Wine offers a stylish, intimate atmosphere with warm lighting, wood and black décor, perfect for a relaxed evening. The sommelier often suggests wines from Alsace or from elsewhere, with thoughtful food pairings (cheese, charcuterie, small plates). It’s a great spot for wine lovers who like a cosy, “bar-lounge” vibe rather than a formal tasting. And in Summer, they have a rooftop!

Ill Vino
Address: 19a Quai des Pêcheurs, 67000 Strasbourg
ILL VINO is truly unique in Strasbourg: it’s a wine bar on a barge moored along the river, at 19a Quai des Pêcheurs. The view on the cathedral from the water, especially at sunset or in the evening, gives a special charm. They offer a wide, rotating wine list (many wines by the glass), small plates, tapas and local bites, perfect for a laid-back drink or a romantic evening. It’s ideal if you want a slightly different experience: wine + ambiance + beautiful view!

Royal 26
Address: 26 Rue des Juifs, 67000 Strasbourg.
Royal 26 is a smaller, more intimate wine bar tucked away in the narrow streets near the city center. The atmosphere is unpretentious, and though the wine list may not be enormous, it’s curated with care. Locals often appreciate it for a quiet evening with friends or a casual glass of wine. According to some reviews, it’s a good address if you want simplicity and authenticity rather than trendy or touristy vibes.
